Looking for a little extra cash? Who isn’t these days? Or maybe you would like to start your own business and be totally independent. Either way, a great way to make some money is to buy a used trailer and haul away other people’s unwanted stuff. This can range from everything from moving or rummage sale leftovers all the way to downright trash/garbage removal.
Let’s take a closer look at this idea.
What Is a Junk Or Trash Removal Business?
This is pretty much self-explanatory. You’re going to remove other people’s debris and unwanted items from their home, yard, etc. Because of quantity and/or size, local garbage companies won’t always take away everything, so you are providing a service that is much needed. You help reduce clutter, so you ease other people’s stress. Look at that – now you’re a hero!
You’re Your Own Boss
Work when you want to. Work a lot – work a little. Maybe you’d like to take that vacation you’ve been meaning to go on. Possibly you’d like to visit some relatives. A second honeymoon maybe! You’re the boss. You’re in charge. If you want a work life that is flexible, this could be the job for you.
Increase Your Load
Your pickup truck may already be capable of carrying a big load, but what if you want to carry a load that’s even bigger? That’s where a trailer comes in. Open trailers, closed trailers, it’s your choice. What’s available and where can you save the most money? (Make sure that your vehicle is capable of pulling the trailer you want to use.)
Let the Trailer Work for You
If you want to avoid at least some of the heavy lifting, make a deal with your customer where you park the trailer in their driveway or yard, and they fill it. When it’s full, you simply haul it away. Now it’s up to you to decide what’s garbage and what’s not. And that’s another benefit of this job.
Surely, you’ve heard the old adage, “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure” (or something like that). Not everything that people get rid of is garbage. You might find some real treasures in the discarded belongings of others. The rest can simply go to the dump or recycling center.
Recycle for Cash
Certain recycling centers pay for the debris that you are dropping off. Check ahead of time to see what the going rate is for whatever you’re carrying. If you have room, you may want to stockpile items until the rate is at its highest. Otherwise, just dropping stuff off at a recycling location for whatever the going rate is brings in a little extra spending money (in addition to what you’re already charging for your valuable service). That extra spending money could come in handy for the above-mentioned second honeymoon or vacation. Remember, you’re the boss, so you can take that vacation whenever you feel so compelled (and can afford it).
And don’t forget to come up with a catchy little name and logo so that people remember you and spread the word. That saves on advertising.
